Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and pick yourrental:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Beach House Blocks from Ocean has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a great stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
