Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectrental:
- First, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Amazing Condo-Completely Renovated, Ocean Front Bd,Watch Sunrise in Your Bed has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
