How to find the best vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Hot Tub has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
