Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to a budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Stupendous Oceanfront Suite, Dogs are OK! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
