Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation week and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. B451: Your Ideal Coastal Retreat at Myrtle Beach Resort! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
