Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beach Condo, Gated Yard, Park 2 Cars, Walk to Beach, Pool @ Gulf Stream Cottages has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
