Tricks and tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. BEAUTIFUL & WELL APPOINTED-THIS OCEANFRONT 3BD\/2BA CONDO IS WAITING FOR YOU! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
