Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Beautiful 2 Bedroom Condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
