Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean View King Suite: Hot Breakfast 12th Flr has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
