Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Find your perfect rental:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental home within budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes Site MH-54a Handicap accessible,5 bdrm 3 bath sleeps 12 has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
