Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Site MH-54a Handicap accessible,5 bdrm 3 bath sleeps 12 has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- Add the host's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
