Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best vacation home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Stunning 3 BR, 3 Bath Grand Atlantic Direct Oceanfront has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
During your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
