Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes Site 1058 Beautiful Beach Cottage, steps to ocean has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
