Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Find your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Direct Ocean View Condo on Boardwalk Steps From Beach - Indoor & Outdoor Pools has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
