Strategies for getting the best vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Choosing the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:

  • Start by having your group choose dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. DIRECT OCEANFRONT 3-BEDROOM CONDO! HUGE BALCONY! OCEANFRONT MASTER! AMAZING VIEW has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your group.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
