Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your Myrtle Beach rental:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Ocean Lakes Beach Home......100 Yards to the Beach. has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
