How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- To start, have your family decide on dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes - OCEAN VIEW! STEPS TO WATERPARK! ELEVATOR! SITE: M38 has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
