Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Ocean View King Suite has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
