Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- First, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful Oceanfront 3 Bedroom Condo + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
