Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Fall Deals-Oceanviews-Multiple Balconies-Steps 2 Beach-Pool-1st Flr-X-Space has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
