Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to go & When to book:
- To get the most suitable rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful Richmond Park villa with full access to all resort amenities, 21C!! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
