How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Beautiful Suite with an Ocean Front View has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
