Finding the best rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beautiful 2 Bedroom Condo in Ocean Creek Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, email the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
