Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the best rental within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beautiful 2 Bedroom Condo in Ocean Creek Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
