Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Blue Water Resort #5, feel the ocean breeze has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
