Finding the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. SD-1443 - Snowbird specials are now available! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
