Strategies for getting the perfect rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is a good way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Bright&Cheery OV 3 Beds, HtdPools, Exc walkability has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
