Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting the best rental home:
- Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Wake Up to the Waves! Oceanview\/Dogs Ok! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
