Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Carolina Dunes 202 - Oceanfront! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
