Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Close to award winning golf courses and beaches has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
