Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Isle Smile Properties at Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
