How to get the best rental home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the bestvacation home:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Isle Smile Properties at Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
