Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Pristine Oceanfront King Suite\/Best Layout in Bldg has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
