Strategies to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and select a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Coast Comfort Queen Efficiency 15th Floor has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
