Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. WinterBungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
