Booking the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the largest rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. WinterBungalow has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
