Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book your Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Modern 2BR villa at Myrtle Beach Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
