Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Coastal Comfort Ocean View Room 4th Floor Sleeps 4 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is right for your family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
