May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! - In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Some things to know before you go:

- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
