How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Coastal Escape: 1BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your invoice.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
