How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect rental:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Coastal Serenity Suite with Views 2nd Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
