Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Make a plan and pick yourrental:

  • Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Comfortable and Clean Townhouse, One Block From beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
