Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Comfortable two bedroom \/ one full bath house in Ocean Lakes Family Campground. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your agreement.
Know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
