Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to pick the perfect rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. New Direct Oceanfront,Heated Indoor Pool,Remodeled has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
