Tips and Tricks for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Condo on IntraCoastal Waterway- Pool, Near Golf, Near Beach, Balcony, Pup Ok! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
