Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy 2-bedroom dog friendly townhome in Myrtle Beach, walking distance to beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
