Vacation rental booking tips:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Currently being Renovated, 2 Bdr 2 Ba, in Ocean Lakes Family Campground has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
