How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Free State Park Pass 1700 SF (By Beach Star) has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
