Vacation rental tips:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Newly Renovated 2 Bedroom Condo- With Stunning Views! Palace Resort 2108 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
