Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking yourrental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Deja View by StayMareni
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
