Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding your best deal:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Direct Oceanfront at Meridian Plaza, Pools, Views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, email or call the host before booking the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
