Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.

- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a great stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review.
