Tips for getting the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Start by having your group decide on vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 7th-floor oceanfront studio with pool, hot tub, & AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
