Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your search:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Direct Oceanfront, Coral Beach, Heated Pools,Nice! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If not, email the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
