Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Beautiful Direct Oceanfront 3bd2 ba w\/Amazing Views-Pools hottubs Best location! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
